Endorsement by the National Organization for Women

August 5, 2010

South Park, PA – Dan Connolly, the Democratic nominee for the 18th Congressional District of Pennsylvania, has received the endorsement of the National Organization for Women.

One of the central themes of the Connolly campaign is economic opportunity, including equal pay for women – something Tim Murphy voted against in Congress.

“Western Pennsylvania has been hit hard by this recession, and, with families counting on two incomes to get by, we need to ensure that all workers are being paid equally,” said Dan Connolly. “That is why I am glad Lilly Ledbetter came to western Pennsylvania to help me kick off my campaign against Tim Murphy in May and why the National Organization for Women has endorsed my campaign.”

“The choice could not be clearer for voters. My opponent, Tim Murphy, opposed pay equity legislation and voted against a jobs bill at the beginning of 2009 – just as the recession was getting worse.”

“Congressman Tim Murphy is more concerned with voting in lock step with the Republican leadership in Washington than standing up for Pennsylvania’s workers. We need a voice in Washington that will get past the partisan bickering and make sure we put Pennsylvania, and America, back to work.”
